Brumfield is projected to be a late round pick or possibly to go undrafted, while most experts have Oliver coming off the boards from Round 4 to Round 7. The Steelers have now officially used 24 of their 30 allocated visits, with Dravon Askew-Henry, David Long and Miles Sanders all considered local visitors who do not count against their allowance.
Scouting reports for each player can be found below, along with a highlight video for both prospects.
OL, Garrett Brumfield, LSU
Scouting report from Kyle Crabbs of The Draft Network.
“Garrett Brumfield faces a difficult projection to the pros. He’s very tight throughout his frame and struggles significantly with the needed short area quickness and precision needed to be a true asset on the interior. Brumfield won’t inspire in space, but he does have a really heavy anchor that allows him to hold his own against power players on the interior. Brumfield projects as a potential practice squad player but needs to find a lot of extra ROM and quickness to stick in the pros.”
TE, Josh Oliver, San Jose State
Scouting report from Kyle Crabbs of The Draft Network.
“Josh Oliver is a pretty dynamic seam threat as a receiving tight end. His skills will be watered down initially on account of his questionable play strength and issues as a blocker. But when given a free release into the second level, Oliver eats up space well and can quickly get behind LBs. Usage as a receiver was pretty versatile, but his general availability is going to require patience and coaching to get him totally up to speed with the complimentary parts of his game.”
