Six teams that can turn the tide for the Steelers and shape the NFL Draft

While any team can change the direction of the draft, there are six teams in a position to really help or hurt the Steelers.

With Kevin Colbert, Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers getting all of their ducks in a row for tonight’s draft, the unpredictability is unprecedented. There is no certainty of anything, except that the draft includes a gluttony of defensive talent. With that being stated, the Steelers could end up with a number of players. There is not a clear cut prediction. Although the Steelers will ultimately write a player’s name on the draft card, they are not in control of their own destiny…only a few at the top are. However, there’s a few teams that their decisions could easily change the direction of the draft. Lets take a look.

Denver Broncos

The Broncos have more holes than a box of Munchkins. They need help on offense and defense. No one is sure what Elway and Co. will do, but they could start the run on Devins or QBs. Denver is also a good candidate to trade down. Colbert needs to have Elway on speed dial.

Cincinnati Bengals

I have a theory that the Bengals figure out who the Steelers desire to draft and do everything to wrest them away. Cincy desperately needs help at QB and an in-state collegiate star could fall to them. They really need to upgrade the line and could be in line for a top prospect. However, they do seem hellbent on replacing Vontaze Burfict. If they don’t go with a Devin, the Steelers could find themselves in position for one.

New York Giants

To me, Dave Gettleman is the renegade of this draft. Gettleman has gotten rid of nearly every star on this club. They could go with Devin White, but there is a theory that they will grab Eli’s successor here. If it’s Haskins, Cincy will most likely go for one of the Devins. But they could seriously go outside the box.

Oakland Raiders

Speaking of renegades, Jon Gruden and Raiders brass are very unpredictable. They could trade up and get Kyler Murray and put Arizona in position to go EDGE. Or the Raiders could go with White. Or they could do something insane. Mike Mayock may stabilize things in Oakland however.j

Detroit Lions

The Lions are looking to trade down too. This could be a good spot for the Steelers to get into. But it won’t be cheap. If not, Detroit could get in on the Devins.

Green Bay Packers

The Packers have an extra first rounder and may trade up into the top three with the Jets. If they do that, they will take a stud at the top of the draft. But that could push Devin White to Tampa.
