Report: Pittsburgh Steelers are entertaining trading up in the 2019 NFL Draft

The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly showing some serious interest in moving up in the NFL Draft.

The 2019 NFL Draft is just hours away, and the rumors are already starting to swirl regarding the Pittsburgh Steelers’ intentions with the 20th overall draft pick.

Armed with 10 draft picks over the span of 7 rounds, the team certainly possesses the draft capital to move up if they wanted. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter this is something the Steelers are seriously considering in the opening round.

While fans might get excited with the prospect of their favorite team potentially making a big splash in Round 1, it should be noted Kevin Colbert rarely trades up. Since 2000, when he took over, Colbert has traded up only twice in the first round, but when he trades up it is usually worth the cost.

He traded up in 2003 to draft Troy Polamalu, and again in 2006 to obtain Santonio Holmes. Those trades produced a likely Hall of Famer and a Super Bowl MVP. In other words, if he does indeed trade up his track record is spotless when doing so.

But before fans glue themselves to their couches to wait to hear the Steelers trade, it should be worth noting the team is going to do their diligence, like they do every year, regarding other organizations who might be interested in trading back.
