Steelers Stats: Some little known Steelers draft pick facts, both past and present

Various Steelers stats over the last few weeks, including scheduling and the draft.

Compiling statistics can take hours upon hours in order to find the proper numbers. To save you the trouble, here are some of the best statistics about the Steelers from the past week.

I will begin with a few statistics of my own before going on to other various Steeler sources. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @STLRSuperFanDad in order to get some of BTSC’s geekiest stats.

Here is a highlight of the past several “Stat Geek” segments from the Steelers Preview Podcast:

Ben Roethlisberger (216) is only four games away from tying in Mike Webster (220) for the most games played as a Steeler. Currently Hines Ward is second at 217 games.

The last first round draft pick of the Steelers who was coming off of their senior year of college was Bud Dupree in 2015. Of Kevin Colbert’s 20 first round draft picks since 2000, 13 have been underclassmen.

Benny Snell Jr is the first running back drafted in the fourth round by the Steelers in the Kevin Colbert era. No wide receiver has been drafted in the fifth round under Colbert.

The only players drafted by the Steelers who are currently on the roster and have appeared in every game since being drafted are Terrell Edmunds (2018) and Artie Burns (2016).

The most distant Steelers draft where more than one player is still on the roster is 2014 with Ryan Shazier (PUP), Stephon Tuitt, and Daniel McCullers.

The oldest first round draft pick of the Steelers in the Kevin Colbert era was Casey Hampton in 2001 who was 24 years old at the time of the draft.

The highest drafted punter in Steelers history was Craig Colquitt in 1978 chosen in round 3 pick 76.
