JuJu Smith-Schuster hosts the ‘JuJu Foundation’s Senior Day Of Caring” at local care center

The young receiver was at the Forward Shady Senior Care on Friday as part of an initiative of his new charitable foundation.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster may have spent much of Friday evening dancing the night away as a guest at the wedding reception of Ryan Shazier, but it would appear that he was practicing his moves with an entirely different crowd of people earlier in the day.

Hosting the “JuJu’s Foundation’s Senior Day Of Caring’ at the Forward Shady Senior Care in Squirrel Hill, the Steelers young receiver took part in a line dance class with some of the care home residents and helped give their exercise room a new coat of paint with the assistance of some students from the Sunnyside Academy in Pittsburgh.

Part of an initiative organized by the JuJu Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of youth initiatives and lifting the spirits of those in need established in 2019, the day was a chance for Smith-Schuster to give back to the local community.

And when speaking to reporters from KDKA-TV at the event, it seems the young receiver got just as much out of the day as the local residents did.

“I don’t really have grandparents around, so when I come around here, it’s awesome to have that feeling of caring, loving, family feeling,”

“I’ve always wanted to give back. I mean, at 22-years-old, there’s not a lot of kids or guys at my age, with the JuJu Foundation or a foundation of their own, and for me to have the opportunity to do this is pretty amazing and it’s in Pittsburgh.”

A sentiment appreciated by care home resident Shaulamit Bastacky.

“It’s wonderful to see a young, starting athlete football player who is giving to the community because this is what I emphasize as a Holocaust survivor to give of yourself.”
